This workshop will be an introduction to SuperCollider's powerful Streams, Patterns and Events framework, with a strong focus on stochastic algorithmic composition. We will explore different ways of working with patterns and stochastic procedures to synthesize sounds and to compose algorithmically.

After studying streams and routines, we will first build a vocabulary of pattern classes. We will then create musical structures by generating event streams -- with the help of Pbind, Ppar, Pmono, Pdef and Pbindef -- and by combining random distributions, tendency masks, random walks and Markov chains. For SuperCollider users and absolute beginners wishing to make music with the patterns framework.
